Alaska Milk coach Luigi Trillo dismissed rumors that incoming sophomore Mac Baracael wants to be traded to another team.
“That’s not true,” Trillo told InterAKTV. “In fact, I was really impressed by what Mac has been showing in practice for the past three days. We’ve decided to play him at the No. 4 spot and he has been effective.”
Baracael comfortably played power forward spot for SMART-Gilas Pilipinas for two years, but moved to play small forward when he was drafted by the Alaska Aces last year.
This time, Trillo is allowing Baracael to go back to his comfort zone.
Baracael will be reunited with former SMART-Gilas teammates JVee Casio and Dondon Hontiveros, whom the Aces acquired in a trade involving star point guard LA Tenorio.
The Tenorio trade capped a busy offseason that saw Alaska retooling both its brain trust and its coaching staff. The Aces also drafted Calvin Abueva and Raphy Reyes and signed new assistant coaches Louie Alas and Alex Compton.
