Ginebra San Miguel and Petron will play the visiting under-18 players from a developmental team of the Australian College of Basketball in an exhibition series starting next week.
The Kings play the Aussies at 3 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the San Andres gym in Manila under the auspices of MASCO, while the Boosters take their turn on Sept. 13 at the Acropolis gym starting at 10 a.m.
The goodwill series , a joint project of the Basketball New South Wales, the Philippine SportsCommission, and the Intramuros Administration of the Department of Tourism, will also see the visiting team playing against Manila universities and colleges starting with Trace College this Sunday morning and Ateneo de Manila’s Team B varsity, both at the Blue Eagles gym in Katipunan.
Arellano University will have its turn on Sept. 10 at 8 a.m., after which the Australian delegation, headed by BSNM’s Danny Martinez and head coach Phil Smyth, a former Australian youth player way back in the mid- 70’s, pays a courtesy call to Commissioner Iggy Clavecilla at the Philippine SportsCommission office.
TIP plays the visitors Sept. 12 while STI takes a crack at the Aussies on Sept. 12 at 8 a.m. at the Global City gym of the school. Mapua Institute of Technology hosts the next game in the afternoon at 1 p.m.
On their last day, the Aussies take on College of St. Benilde at 10 in the morning and the Trinity University of Asia at 3 p.m., with both games to be held at the Trinity gym in Quezon City in cooperation with the Sandugo-Collegiate Athletic League.
Coca Cola treats the team to the UAAP games on Sept. 13 while Jun Capistrano of the Intramuros administration gives the visitors a tour of Intramuros as part of DOT’s sports tourism campaign.
